THE EXTRAORDINARY
Magashi Camp perfectly complements a stay discovering Rwanda's great apes (at Bisate Lodge for example). Akagera offers a magnificent playground for lions and rhinoceroses (which have been reintroduced), plain antelopes, leopards, elephants, zebras, hyenas, giraffes... The Park is also an ornithological paradise with over 500 species of birds, including the rare shoebill and the superb red-faced barbet.
ETHICS
Magashi Camp was established in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and African Parks, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism in Rwanda. The camp’s aim is therefore to contribute to the conservation of the country’s last protected savannah ecosystem, which is home to rare species such as the black rhinoceros and the shoebill stork. Magashi’s presence in Akagera National Park also helps the region to strengthen its economic base. Finally, the camp is powered entirely by solar energy.
