THE EXTRAORDINARY
A true icon of Quito and a UNESCO World Heritage site, Casa Gangotena is an integral part of the city's history and of Plaza San Francisco, which dates back to Inca times. The property was purchased by the Gangotena family in the 18e century. Destroyed by fire, the private mansion was rebuilt in 1924 before becoming a hotel in 2011. For a more complete experience of Ecuador, why not combine Casa Gangotena with Pikaia Lodge to the Galapagos?
ETHICS
The Casa Gangotena hotel is involved in community projects focusing particularly on integration assistance and the promotion of cultural heritage. The hotel also works to encourage encounters between foreign visitors and locals to promote Ecuadorian traditions. Within the establishment, solar panels are used to heat water and waste is carefully recycled. On the catering side, the hotel gives preference to local suppliers as much as possible.
