Hapuku Lodge

Surrounded by trees and an olive grove, at the heart of a former sheep farm now dedicated to red deer farming, lies Hapuku Lodge, an exceptional eco-tourism retreat. In this privileged natural setting where the snow-capped peaks of the Kaikoura mountains face the ocean, tranquility envelops the place and soothes its guests. Hapuku is a true country ecolodge, featuring contemporary lines and natural materials, with wood taking pride of place. Five cabins erected in the treetops, the Tree Houses, invite guests to observe nature ten metres above the ground in a kanuka grove. At Hapuku Lodge, travellers can also unpack their bags in the lodge itself, in one of four rooms whose balconies overlook the deer farm. Families will gravitate towards the Olive House, an independent building that once housed the farm's olive press. Everywhere, modern comfort sits alongside the warmth of wood, the softness of natural tones and the light pouring in through nature-facing windows. The restaurant's table is inseparable from the Hapuku experience. Here, one discovers a convivial and warm atmosphere, savouring local cuisine based on flagship products such as Kaikoura crayfish, game meat produced on-site, and Tenara goats' cheese.
