Arkaba

A genuine nature reserve

At the heart of a 25,000-hectare private reserve lies a former sheep station converted into an exceptional ecolodge named Arkaba, which only 10 lovers of wide-open spaces will get to enjoy. The property features just 5 bedrooms, each unique, having kept a 19th-century styleth century with rustic decor such as ostrich egg lamps, cowhide rugs and reproductions of native animals. Each room offers a wonderful view of the Australian bush from its veranda. At Arkaba, there are no televisions, mobile phones, and certainly no Wi-Fi, in order to preserve the serenity of the place, fully appreciate the primal beauty of the elements and disconnect from the outside world. It is the ideal retreat for couples and families (children aged 8 and over) seeking outdoor adventure. On the programme, 4x4 and walking safaris to encounter wildlife, such as the famous kangaroo and wallaby, in the company of experienced and passionate guides. In the evening, upon your return, you will share your safari experiences while admiring the sunset over a glass of Australian wine. At dinner, you will enjoy carefully prepared seasonal dishes made exclusively with local produce, in a friendly, guesthouse-like atmosphere. A minimum stay of 2 nights is required by Arkaba, and for total disconnection, 3 is a must.

At the lodge, hot water is produced by solar energy. Arkaba has chosen not to have televisions, electric kettles, minibars or telephones in the rooms to promote minimalism. In the kitchen, the dishes and wines served in the restaurant are mainly locally sourced and organic, and some of the produce is grown on site. Arkaba also minimises the use of plastic and harvests rainwater.
