    Off the coast of mainland Australia, on the ultra-protected, World Heritage-listed island of Lord Howe, stands an exclusive retreat accommodating up to 18 guests: Capella Lodge. Nestled between jungle and subtropical forest, lagoon and coral reef, Capella features 9 suites with modern decor reflecting a chic beach house aesthetic. Perfectly integrated into nature, the lodge allows guests to enjoy a magnificent natural setting with two impressive twin mountains bordering the splendid Lovers' Bay. Lord Howe Island is a subtropical haven admirably preserved through time, an intoxicating blend of pristine beaches, rich pastures, lush rainforests and volcanic peaks rising from the reef; it is a true sanctuary for rare plants, seabirds and abundant marine life. This small island measuring 11 by 3 kilometres is packed with land and sea activities that a week's stay could not possibly exhaust, not to mention well-deserved and natural relaxation breaks at the lodge itself, which offers its guests a spa, a swimming pool and a restaurant serving exquisite, fresh cuisine.

Lord Howe Island is home to many rare and endemic species: nearly 500 species of fish, 200 of birds, and 90 of coral! The number of remarkable natural sites on the island and its immediate surroundings is impressive. Sir David Attenborough once even wrote that Lord Howe is an island «so extraordinary it is almost unbelievable...».

    ETHICS

    Nicknamed «Treasure Island», Lord Howe Island was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Around 75% of the island is protected as a marine park and subtropical rainforest. Furthermore, Lord Howe Island is limited to a maximum of 400 visitors at any one time in order to preserve the island’s natural environment.
