    Located in the peaceful coastal village of Kuchchaveli, 25 km north of Trincomalee, Jungle Beach is nestled within an isolated 4-hectare reserve and stretches along nearly 4 km of private beach bordered by tropical mangroves and thick jungle. The frangipani flowers displayed at the resort's entrance symbolise the number of guests currently in residence who share this little tropical paradise. Guests can choose from 48 villas spread across the beach, jungle and lagoon, with the option also to travel as a small group and share 3 self-contained villas set around a lovely private pool. The villas feature a contemporary Sri Lankan tropical style, with colours and materials that blend in perfectly with the natural environment. Jungle Beach is an ideal haven for discovering the island's eastern Tamil culture, the colonial remnants of Trinco, the quintessential fishing villages, the underwater depths and whales (from May to October), but you can also choose to indulge in some "farniente" by trying out the pool, the spa and the chef's flavourful cuisine.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    Whale and dolphin watching on the east coast of Sri Lanka is renowned. The waters off the coast of Jungle Beach offer one of the best places in the world to spot the world's largest mammal – the blue whale. In addition, sperm whales are also very prevalent in these waters and are often spotted travelling in pods of 40 individuals or more. These abundant waters are also favoured feeding and playground areas for a large number of spinner dolphins, which are known for their acrobatic spins.
