    One&Only has opened its first resort in Asia with Desaru Coast. Located on the peaceful south-eastern coast of Malaysia, between lush rainforests and a white sand beach, it is one of the final projects by the Australian architect Kerry Hill, who has made a graceful and elegant mark with superb Aman Resorts projects in Japan and China. Architect Kerry Hill and his practice have interpreted traditional Malay coastal villages with an entirely modern perspective: the resort features 44 timber-clad suites with green roof terraces, spacious verandas and private pools for absolute privacy, and offers 3 restaurants, 1 bar, and a Chenot-branded spa.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    Set off to discover the awakening of the jungle with a resident naturalist who will take you through the Panti Forest Reserve, home to fascinating primates such as dusky langurs, southern pig-tailed macaques and white-handed gibbons. Birdwatchers will have the pleasure of spotting white-bellied sea eagles, oriental pied hornbills and Finsch's bulbuls in this bird sanctuary. A beautifully prepared tropical picnic can complete this unique immersive jungle experience.

    ETHICS

    The Australian architect Kerry Hill made sure to build the hotel in harmony with its surroundings, avoiding sacrificing trees at all costs, and designing an overall operation with the least possible impact on nature. The interior decoration elements were sourced from the surrounding local tribes and wonderfully illuminate the rooms in which they are displayed.
