    Lower Zambezi pioneer

    On the banks of the Zambezi River, beneath a canopy of mahogany trees, Chiawa has discreetly established its camp, thus occupying a strategic position right in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Committed players in ethical tourism in the region, the Cuming family has been operating for over 30 years, passing down its passion for the area from generation to generation. As a pioneer of high-end ethical tourism in the Lower Zambezi, Chiawa is an unmissable camp featuring just 9 tents with a tastefully revisited colonial charm. Designed using local materials to blend into its natural setting, each tent opens generously onto the Zambezi River, giving guests the delightful impression of communing with nature. Activities are plentiful at Chiawa, and 3 nights will not be enough to enjoy 4x4 safaris, bush walks, canoeing excursions, motorboat safaris, fly-fishing, and nocturnal wildlife viewing, all guided by Grant Cuming, if you are lucky enough to stay at the camp while he is there.
