Shumba Camp

The Busanga Plains

It is in the north of Kafue National Park that one discovers the vast Busanga Plains, an ecosystem teeming with animal life that is home to Shumba Camp. With just 6 tents boasting an ethnic-chic feel, Shumba stands at the heart of a natural oasis that attracts herds of lechwe, puku and wildebeest, along with a whole cohort of enticed predators… Offering striking 360-degree views over plains wooded with miombo trees, Shumba Camp is the epicentre of the superb Busanga region, in the north of the 22,500 km² Kafue National Park. The camp takes its name from a pride of lions, owing to impressive prides of felines that can exceed twenty individuals, drawn by the overabundance of game such as lechwe, puku, roan antelope, wildebeest, buffalo and oribi… It is thanks to the excellent irrigation of three rivers (the Lufupa, Lunga and Kafue) that Kafue has remained an exceptionally well-preserved wildlife sanctuary. Shumba is the dream camp for discovering this immense park in privileged conditions. Just 6 tents, raised on wooden platforms, offer absolute comfort in an elegant safari style. As for the main mess area with its bar, dining room, lounge, swimming pool and campfire, it is nothing short of pure delight…
