Located to the south-east of the Masai Mara, in a private 320 sq km concession, Cottar’s 1920s is a luxury camp that offers a unique experience: a step back in time to the very essence of the classic safari of the Roaring Twenties. Eleven sumptuous white canvas tents and a private Bush Villa will sweep you away into an unashamedly romantic Africa. It was Chas Cottar who initiated the family safari saga in 1919, and ever since, the family has perpetuated the tradition with unrivalled refinement and elegance. The camp and its white canvas tents look out towards the famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and are ideally situated on the route of the great wildebeest and zebra migrations heading back up towards Kenya from June onwards. The atmosphere inside the tents is fabulous, featuring animal skins on the floors, four-poster beds, plump duvets, embroidered bedspreads, antique trunks and colonial furniture. The Cottars have built their reputation on the quality of their guided bush walking safaris, and also offer a private 5-bedroom villa for those wishing for greater privacy.

Since the camp's inception, the Cottar family has been committed to a large-scale development aid project for the Maasai community of Esoit and the conservation of the Mara, with its fragile balance.
