    Selinda, a photographer’s paradise

    Selinda Camp is a unique luxury and adventure camp that combines two labels of excellence: Great Plains Conservation and Relais & Châteaux. The camp is situated on a shaded island overlooking the impressive waters of the Selinda Spillway, an ephemeral waterway representing a vital attraction for wildlife in northern Botswana. This camp of 9 delightful tents decorated in an ethnic chic style offers a unique wildlife-watching experience. Selinda Camp overlooks the spillway of the same name, a unique seasonal waterway linking the Okavango Delta to the game-rich floodplains of the Linyanti Marshes. Surprisingly, given the relatively flat topography, the waters can flow in both directions! 9 sublime, large tents, with outdoor bathrooms and stone bathtubs, are pitched under a thatched roof facing an exceptional panorama of palms and waterlogged plains. Selinda is a 135,000-hectare private reserve whose lingering waters act like a magnet for the region's animals. Its varied habitats of savannahs dotted with palms, waterways surrounded by dry land, and floodplains attract zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, elephants, buffaloes, and a whole host of predators for action-packed safaris!

    During years when water levels are very high, see the Linyanti and Kwando rivers flow in both directions across the Selinda spillway. Admire herds of thousands of elephants coming to drink and cool off during the dry winter season. Witness an epic hunting scene between lions and hippopotamuses.

    ETHICS

    Selinda is owned by a couple of award-winning wildlife filmmakers in Botswana. Their aim is to learn from nature and bear witness to its beauty in order to better protect it. Selinda has created an herbarium with duplicates of specimens from the National Museum and concurrently conducts studies on herbivores. Great Plains locally supports the association Solar Mamas bringing solar electricity to the country's remote villages.
