    Jack's Camp is getting a makeover in 2021

    During an expedition to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in the 1960s, Jack Bousfield fell in love with these wide open spaces and decided to create Jack's Camp. Nine luxurious tents decorated in a superb 1940s safari style form a striking oasis of life in a thoroughly lunar environment. In tribute to his father's vision, his son Ralph and his wife Catherine took over Jack's Camp and developed an ambitious camp project in Botswana. The nine spacious tents with a colonial feel create a sublime oasis of wellbeing amidst the harsh environment of the Kalahari. During the rainy season, the landscapes transform to become covered with migratory birds and herds of zebras and wildebeest. A relic of one of the largest lakes in the world, the Makgadikgadi salt pan dried up thousands of years ago, and you will explore this unique place, the theatre of human evolution, aboard a 4x4, a quad bike or on foot in the company of experienced Bushmen. The experience is completed by the observation of unique desert-adapted species such as the aardvark! Children of all ages are welcome.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    A minimum 3-night stay is recommended in order to be able to appreciate the only place in the world where silence becomes absolute, and where you can hear the blood pulsing in your temples. You may also be lucky enough to spot the rare brown hyena or the spectacular zebra migration, and you will make friends with the adorable meerkats!

    Jack’s Camp works closely with the Bushman communities and offers its guests the chance to share in certain ancestral rituals and traditions, in order to help them preserve their culture for generations to come. You may even have the opportunity to follow a young Bushman's rite of passage into adulthood.
