First Relais & Châteaux hotel in the Bahamas

Arriving at Tiamo immediately plunges your thoughts into the turquoise waters of the Bahamian archipelago. Alongside 2 beachfront bedrooms, the resort's 11 villas, all made from pine wood and thatched with coconut palm, invite you to enjoy an eco-friendly island hideaway. Nestled in lush vegetation, the Starlight villa preserves your privacy, while the Cool villas, perched on stilts in the mangrove, are cooled by the sea air of a sheltered creek; here, you dream of fine sand and the barrier reef. All the villas, which reflect traditional Bahamian style, have been built using local and reclaimed materials, in harmony with the superb surrounding nature. The interiors, comfortably furnished, feature light colours dotted with blue, and offer an outdoor space that invites you to truly switch off. The Tiamo resort also ensures the well-being of its guests by offering natural treatments in its small spa, and an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by palm trees. In the resolutely maritime atmosphere of The Great Room restaurant, Bahamian chef Keith Rolle offers Creole cuisine enhanced with a clever French touch. He excels in the art of cooking fish. Because here, any catch that is not released is cooked: wahoo, mahi-mahi, or even the excellent lionfish, a fish with no predators, caught for the delight of both the ecosystem and your taste buds.

THE EXTRAORDINARY

Tiamo is a paradise for diving enthusiasts, who can swim with stingrays, sawfish and parrotfish. Andros Island lies off the third-largest barrier reef in the world. Thanks to its PADI centre, Tiamo offers its guests the opportunity to experience unforgettable diving. The island also claims to be the bonefish angling capital of the world, an astonishing fish that disappears into the sun's reflections; it can only be caught with great skill, in accordance with the rules of the art and environmental protection.

ETHICS

The owners of the Tiamo resort are very committed to sustainable development and the preservation of the Andros ecosystem. They have therefore built an eco-lodge running on solar energy, constructed mainly from reclaimed materials (pine wood, thatch, natural stone) and without cutting down a single tree. Thanks to its coral nursery, Tiamo actively contributes to the protection of the third largest barrier reef in the world.
