    Extravagant villa

    Chongwe River House is an incredible private villa belonging to Time & Tide. This house is the brainchild of an eco-inspired architect, Neil Rocher, who adapted to the natural site and used exclusively local materials. Open from April to November, Chongwe House is a surprising private home that has sprung up on the banks of the tranquil Chongwe River, a tributary of the Zambezi. Not a single straight line, but a succession of natural curves echoing the shape of trees and branches. The result is a whimsical house with 4 dreamlike suites, completely open to the outdoors, where nature seems to have reclaimed its rights. The living room furniture has been carved out of a solid acacia trunk, spring water cascades through the bathrooms, pebbles form imaginary river carpets, the swimming pool meanders along the water's edge – the house possesses incredible poetry! Lower Zambezi National Park, bordering Zimbabwe, is one of Zambia's newest and offers unique opportunities for viewing elephants by 4x4 and canoe.

The architect Neil Rocher adds, "I believe nature is the ultimate designer and we can only try to pay homage to it.".

    The ethical approach is comprehensive: financial support for the conservation of flora and fauna, educational support in Kawaza, the employment of 90% locally trained staff, a reduction in carbon emissions and waste, respect for the natural environment, and the purchase of local food and handicrafts.
