COMO Maalifushi

Como Maalifushi, elegance under the palm trees

In late December 2013, the COMO Hotels & Resorts group opened its second luxury hotel in the Maldives following Cocoa Island. A successful new initiative in the heart of the Thaa Atoll featuring 66 suites and villas with clean lines and high-end materials with a pleasant scent of wood. At Maalifushi, there is no noise pollution and no visual pollution; you are in paradise beneath the coconut palms, with your bare feet planted in the fine, pristine sand. Just under an hour by seaplane south of Malé lies the unspoiled Thaa Atoll, where COMO Maalifushi has discreetly established 66 suites and villas featuring local architecture, vying for space with the ocean and the coconut palms. The focus is on simple lines, soft colours, vaporous sheer curtains, understated 50s-style furniture, and always the Indian Ocean on the horizon. For the palate, there are two restaurants: Madi for international and Maldivian cuisine, and Tai for Japanese cuisine, alongside the Thila Bar for snacks and grilled seafood. Wellbeing is not forgotten, with eight treatment rooms at the COMO Shambala Retreat institution, which draws its inspiration from ancient Indian techniques. With no noise and no light, you will experience absolute peace at Maalifushi and enjoy a deserted island for a picnic, or why not go camping? Paradise is right here...

THE EXTRAORDINARY

ETHICS

COMO Group actively supports local cultures and economies as well as the environment. Consequently, local producers are the main suppliers for COMO properties, residents are encouraged to pursue a career in hospitality, and environmental impact is kept to a minimum. At COMO Maalifushi, guests have the opportunity to take part in coral reef restoration by adopting a piece of coral and following its progress, an experience that will particularly appeal to children.
