    The beautiful wind turbine

    It is in the north-east of Sicily, on the island of Vulcano, that the Therasia Resort Sea & Spa is located. Perched on a promontory overlooking the spectacular sea stacks of Lipari, the estate benefits from an enchanting natural environment and breathtaking views of the Aeolian Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A member of Small Luxury Hotels, the hotel offers 90 elegantly designed rooms blending Etna lava stone, Sicilian terracotta and cedar wood. It is complemented by a splendid outdoor swimming pool, a spa, a fitness centre, three restaurants including one with a Michelin star, two bars, numerous welcoming communal areas and a private beach. The hotel is open seasonally only, from April to the end of October.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    World-famous for giving its name to the volcanic activity that characterises volcanoes of its type, Stromboli is the most important attraction of the Aeolian archipelago. Travellers come to admire the "Sciara del Fuoco", an impressive trail of fire linked to the intermittent explosions of magma. There are two ways to approach the volcano: by sea, to witness the volcanic activity in its entirety, or by taking part in night-time excursions with specialised guides to enjoy the pyroclastic display from closer up.

    ETHICS

    The Therasia was designed using local materials found on the island and in its immediate vicinity, lava stone, cedar and olive wood, and Sicilian terracotta. Its garden showcases all the endemic plants of the Aeolian Islands.
