THE EXTRAORDINARY
Inaugurated in 1923, this mansion commissioned by a merchant became one of Valparaíso's most imposing palaces. It rose to become an emblem of the city, thanks to its distinctive colours and eye-catching architecture. Chilean architect Matias Klotz succeeded Vicente Colovich to undertake a complete restoration of the building in 2009. Finally, in 2013, the Palacio Astoreca opened its doors, offering visitors the opportunity to stay in a place steeped in history.
ETHICS
In 2025, the Palacio Astoreca hotel invested in solar panels to reduce its use of fossil fuels and its environmental footprint, notably to heat the heated swimming pool. This acquisition adds to the hotel's overall approach aimed at more sensible energy use, the limitation of single-use products, and the preservation of its Victorian architectural heritage.
