A whiff of Havana

Welcome to Cuba, a country with infectious joie de vivre, a rich colonial heritage, and a revolutionary past. Every trip to Cuba begins in Habana Vieja, the UNESCO-listed historic heart of Havana, where sublime Baroque and Neoclassical colonial buildings stand. Aficionados of 1950s American cars won't want to miss a drive along the Malecón, where Cadillacs and Chevrolets proudly parade. But Cuba also boasts lush nature and countryside dotted with tobacco plantations and sugar cane fields. The Viñales Valley, studded with mogotes, offers a paradise for hikers, while the island's eastern tip is home to the Sierra Maestra and Alejandro de Humboldt National Parks. With its cays and thousands of kilometres of coastline, the crocodile island is brimming with enchanting beaches lapped by crystal-clear waters and fringed with coconut palms. Cayo Levisa, Varadero, Cayo Largo, Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Coco, Playa Ancon... will delight lovers of lounging, diving, and catamaran trips. As evening falls, return to the cities to live to the rhythm of salsa, wander through the picturesque and colourful streets of Trinidad, Cienfuegos or Santiago de Cuba, and discover the effigy of Che in Santa Clara. Cuba promises an authentic experience, to be shared with its inhabitants during a stay in a «casa particular», and perhaps, over a cigarillo.
