    Upstream from the famous Victoria Falls stands Tongabezi Lodge, an exceptional lodge created around twenty years ago on the banks of the majestic Zambezi River. Built from local materials, the lodge comprises 5 cottages and 7 houses with breathtaking views over the Zambezi and an astonishing array of activities around the falls. It was in Zambia, on the banks of the Zambezi River, that two pioneers of ecotourism founded Tongabezi Lodge in the early 1990s. Since then, Tongabezi has cultivated its luxurious yet relaxed sense of adventure, and has become an essential retreat for exploring Victoria Falls. You can choose the house that suits you best – Bird, Tree, Honeymoon, Dog or Nut, or perhaps Tangala if you are with family. As for the included activities, boat safaris, 4x4 drives, walking safaris, as well as fishing, lunch on an island, a floating dinner, and village and market visits are on offer. And optionally, you can also take a helicopter flight over the falls, visit Livingstone Island, play golf, go white-water rafting, bungee jump, and enjoy beauty treatments... The list goes on, and a stay of at least 4 nights is recommended.

    Tongabezi has kept itself safe from the bustle of Victoria Falls and offers a resolutely adventurous approach to the region, with its exclusive bush lunches on Livingstone Island, which David Livingstone was the first to tread upon to admire the Falls, and organises expeditions to admire the moonbows at full moon.

    ETHICS

    Tongabezi strives to generate as little noise, waste and CO2 as possible in its natural environment. Waste water from the lodge feeds the organic garden that produces the chef's vegetables. Construction timber comes from renewable forests, and the lodge actively supports the local Tujatane school financially and through training.
