    Great Fish River Lodge, the call of the river

    Intimate and cosy, Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge is perched on the banks of the river of the same name. The lodge consists of 9 generously sized suites in a contemporary style with ethnic decorative touches. Each suite boasts its own small private pool on its deck. To all this luxurious and original comfort is added a lovely shared pool, overlooking the bush! The main lodge is the focal point, featuring a beautiful terrace and a lounge with a fireplace, ideal for guests to share their experiences. The 4x4 or walking safaris organised by the lodge allow guests to observe the beauty of the reserve and its famous Big Five. As an option, guests are offered the chance to explore the region's social, cultural, military and archaeological past in the company of a historian, or to follow the lodge's carnivore research project.

    Guided by one of the lodge's co-owners, Mr Sholto-Douglas, you can follow the progress of the carnivore research programme by tracking the wild dog, cheetah, lion or leopard, which have been successfully reintroduced to a region situated at the convergence of numerous plant species.

    ETHICS

    Kwandwe has successfully rehabilitated 20,000 hectares, formerly degraded by farming, into a thriving private nature reserve. Its community initiatives via the Angus Gillis Foundation are remarkable, notably by generating income for women making charming dolls, as well as contributing to the construction of health centres, primary schools, and more.
