Off the Atlantic coast, in the heart of the Palmwag private concession, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is set in a dramatically fascinating landscape. Eight dreamlike tents offer a peaceful haven in an environment where both flora and fauna have ingeniously adapted to the unforgiving desert. North of Palmwag, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp has established its base in a wild, desolate, uninhabited yet magnificent environment. Set in the heart of a wide valley formed by the dry riverbeds of the Hoanib River, eight luxurious tents with ethnic charm are pitched, each offering uniquely spectacular views. You will discover astonishing landscapes by 4x4: meandering sand dunes, wind-swept plains, steep canyons, lunar salt pans, oases of life, shipwrecks and seal colonies. Natural water sources and Atlantic mist sustain an abundance of wildlife (giraffe, elephant, gemsbok, brown hyaena, and occasionally lion and cheetah) and plant life, including the fabulous welwitschia, capable of living for 2,000 years, which you will search for carefully on foot, so sacred is it to the Namibian people.

You will be captivated by the lithops, or pebble plants, and the living fossil that is the welwitschia mirabilis, the only species capable of living for 2,000 years...
ETHICS
To preserve the fragility of the ecosystem, Hoanib Skeleton Coast has been designed based on very ecological principles (camouflage, recycled water, solar energy, waste management, etc.). The camp also supports a community school and a research project on lichens, vital components of the Namib ecosystem.
