    Sunrise over the dunes

    Perched atop a cluster of volcanic granite boulders, Zannier Sonop looks out over one of the most isolated regions of the Namib Desert. On the edge of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, the lodge embraces a landscape of striking beauty: endless plains and rolling dunes make up a practically surreal setting in absolute silence. Wildlife roams freely and human presence is rare, offering total immersion in a raw and majestic desert. The lodge evokes the timeless elegance of early 20th-century British expeditions: antique furniture, weathered trunks, travel instruments and brass lighting form a rich, subtly nostalgic setting. The 10 spacious and bright canvas suites blend refined fabrics, dark woods and carefully chosen details, whilst their terraces offer 360-degree panoramas of the infinite horizon. Days are punctuated by a clever balance between adventure and poetry: sunrise hikes, horse-riding excursions through the silence of the desert, electric mountain bike trails along the dunes, or a hot-air balloon flight over the desert to catch the dawn from the sky. At dusk, an open-air cinema lights up beneath one of the purest skies in the world, which becomes blanketed with millions of stars, revealing the unique magic of the place. A spa, heated infinity pool and fine dining complete the experience, for an immersive and memorable stay in the heart of the Namib.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    Strengthen the body, calm the mind and gain flexibility: such is the promise of the Sonop yoga session. Guided by an experienced instructor, participants release tension from their bodies through a series of postures accessible to everyone. Designed for beginners and the initiated alike, these routines promote concentration, breathing and self-reconnection, while the light of the "Sonop" desert gradually fills the space. The 45-minute sessions are held on request, usually near the swimming pool at sunrise.
