    ON THE LAND OF THE GIANTS

    The Angama group's very latest property, Angama Amboseli, has set up just 45 minutes from the famous Amboseli National Park, in the Kimana Private Sanctuary. You can reach the lodge by road, a journey of around three hours, or by air by landing on an airstrip less than five minutes from the camp. In this vast 2,300-hectare private concession, you can indulge in the iconic 4x4 safari, as well as the exhilarating walking safari and night safari which opens a door onto the nightlife of wild animals. Angama Amboseli is home to 10 suites blending canvas, stone, concrete and rattan in a contemporary spirit warmed by natural tones. Each is oriented so that you can enjoy a view of Kilimanjaro from almost every corner, right down to the shower! The entire lodge takes on the challenge of blending into the environment, notably with a rough material made from elephant dung and concrete, an ecological and unusual nod to these giants of Africa. The lodge also features a warm indoor-outdoor lounge where you can share your safari experiences, a photographic studio, a boutique, a games room, an art gallery, a weaving studio, not to mention an infinity pool overlooking a waterhole where wildlife comes to quench its thirst. Don't forget to climb the superb observation tower, The Mnara, specially erected to observe the elephants and animals crossing the swamp, and offering 360-degree views of the reserve, the Chyulu Hills and the unmissable Kilimanjaro.

    Angama Amboseli is an ode to elephants and Kilimanjaro. The very design of the lodge is inspired by the pachyderms, with its rounded shapes and bold character. Each of the suites has been designed around an unobstructed view of Kilimanjaro, from the bed to the terrace and even the bathroom. From the top of The Mnara observation tower, you will enjoy a privileged view of the elephants and wildlife. The Kimana Sanctuary also offers a unique opportunity to get close to «super tuskers», those impressive elephants with tusks so massive they sometimes drag on the ground.

    ETHICS

    The Kimana Sanctuary is the first community reserve established in Kenya, owned by 844 Maasai members. More than 60% of the lodge’s staff are from Kimana, helping to support local employment. Angama and the Big Life Foundation are working together to combine high-end tourism with the conservation of land and biodiversity. In particular, they are committed to protecting a centuries-old migration route that is vital to elephants.
