Little Vumbura

Little Vumbura, an island in the middle of the Delta

Little Vumbura is a small, luxurious camp of 6 tents secluded on an island covered in a splendid forest. Located north of the Moremi Game Reserve, its dream location in a private concession brilliantly protected from tourism offers a full range of safari activities to discover all the secrets of the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura is established on an island in the Kwedi private concession, north of the Moremi Game Reserve, in the same area as its sibling, Vumbura Plains. It is a delightful small camp nestled in lush vegetation featuring 6 large tents remarkably decorated in an ethnic style. Surrounded by water, the camp offers safaris by small motorboat or mokoro dugout canoe to discover the mythical Okavango Delta. However, you can also get close to the wildlife by 4x4, and even on foot with an experienced guide. Wildlife viewing is excellent all year round, and you should easily encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards and sable antelopes. As for birds, the Delta is a paradise for many species, including summer migrants. NB: Children accepted from 6 years old.

THE EXTRAORDINARY

Stand near a superb kigelia or «sausage tree», famous for its oblong fruit. It attracts numerous animals: a timid sitatunga antelope seeking a bit of shade, a leopard stationed in its branches, a baboon crunching on its fruit, or a greater kudu relishing its evergreen leaves.

ETHICS

Little Vumbura is pursuing several initiatives simultaneously: - Genetic research into the Delta’s lions, benefit-sharing with five villages, collaboration with Pack for a Purpose - Operates entirely on solar power - Greywater recycling - A 75% reduction in plastic use (drinking water produced on-site) - Use of biodegradable detergents (dishes, laundry, personal care products)
