San Camp

Devilishly romantic San Camp

San Camp and its 7 magnificent safari tents, inspired by 1940s colonial atmospheres, is undoubtedly one of the most romantic camps in Africa. Located on the edge of Makgadikgadi National Park, an ancient lake dry for millions of years, San Camp is the ideal retreat to soak up the history of the Kalahari Desert. San Camp occupies a splendid natural site where nothing disturbs the horizon save for a few palms here and there. It is a sense of desolation and tranquillity that people come to seek in these landscapes of unsettling minimalist beauty. A safari at San Camp is also the emotionally rich experience of the desert and its species that have managed to adapt to extremely harsh conditions. Designed in the purest turn-of-the-century safari style, the 7 white canvas tents have neither running water nor electricity, but feature large four-poster beds with mosquito nets, elegant linen sheets, romantic paraffin lamps, and offer exceptional service, creating a pocket of elegance and comfort in a hostile environment. You will venture by quad bike into the heart of the Makgadikgadi salt pans, with the feeling of being alone in the world!
