    Anjajavy, a Relais & Châteaux property since 2004

    Situated on the west coast of Madagascar, 120 km north of Mahajanga, Anjajavy is both the name of an inaccessible fishing village and a wonderful, remote peninsula at the edge of the world. This ecolodge comprises 24 charming wooden villas nestled in a setting of lush vegetation that represents the island's biodiversity. Anjajavy, a Relais & Châteaux member, is a corner of paradise that can only be reached by light aircraft. The lodge's name means «place where mangrove trees grow», and this is just one aspect of the private reserve, where three other types of habitat are to be found: a dry forest of rosewood and baobabs, famous tsingys (coral remnants sculpted by erosion) and fine sandy beaches. This implies an extremely rich endemic flora, which serves as a refuge for numerous lemurs and reptiles. The 24 rosewood villas, which overlook the beach and feature a terrace, living room, bedroom and a first floor configured as a lounge or second bedroom, flourish in a breathtaking natural setting. Anjajavy is a pure concentration of Madagascar, which is a joy to discover both by sea and on land!

    ETHICS

    Anjajavy actively participates in the protection of the reserve, which is home to more than 1,800 plant species, most of them endemic, and its resident animals: lemurs, birds of paradise, chameleons, iguanes, etc. The lodge's table therefore proudly features organic and wild produce from traditional fishing and gathering, harvested in accordance with responsible and sustainable practices, the protection of protected species and resource regeneration periods. The lodge also supports the village schools of Anjajavy and Ambodro Ampasy, which you are free to visit and come and help.
