    Ongava Lodge, safari lodge

    Ongava Lodge is a lodge with 14 individual chalets situated below the exclusive Little Ongava lodge. It enjoys the same soaring views over the plains of the Ongava private reserve and the same safari services and activities for exploring the pans of Etosha National Park. Created at the beginning of the century, the park has forged its reputation around its immense salt pan, whose waterholes fill during the rainy season, thus attracting flamingos and pelicans by the thousand. The lodge comprises 14 chalets decorated in an elegant, modern safari style, and one of them is structured to accommodate families... 4x4 safaris are organised by day and night to encounter the large numbers of wild animals in the private reserve, and the experience of a guided walk is truly irreplaceable for feeling the vibrations of the bush, and having the chance to get close to a rhinoceros, a lion and all kinds of antelopes.

    ETHICS

    In 1991, the owners of Ongava transformed 4 unproductive ranches into a 30,000-hectare private reserve where numerous species were reintroduced, notably white and black rhinos, through a highly successful buffer zone project prior to their full release into the national park. Worth a visit is the new ORC: Ongava Research Centre, which is both modern and informative.
