    Okahirongo, land of the elephants

    Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is situated in one of the wildest regions of north-west Namibia. More than just a destination with exceptional panoramas, a truly authentic desert experience awaits you in a region with a fascinating culture. The lodge, featuring 7 luxurious cottages and 1 presidential suite, is a true tribute to the land of Kaokoland. It is in the Purros conservancy, right in the heart of Himba country, that Okahirongo Elephant Lodge has established itself—a sublime lodge with clean lines that lets the magic of the landscape work its spell throughout the day. Magnificent cottages and a sumptuous 160 m² presidential suite with ethnic touches welcome guests who have come to recharge their batteries on the edge of a desert unlike any other. In this remote region of Kunene, elephants, black rhinos, giraffes and lions (to name just a few) have managed to adapt to often extreme climatic conditions. Two ways to soak up the serenity of the desert: enjoy the lodge's swimming pool and all the panoramic views, go on a 4x4 safari or walking tour to discover the animal and plant species, or visit a Himba village to understand their nomadic culture. NB: Children accepted from 6 years old.

    THE EXTRAORDINARY

    Only a trained eye can suspect the presence of Okahirongo Lodge. By day, wonderfully camouflaged, the lodge plays with ochres, dry stone, reclaimed wood, ethnic objects, and a play of textures and communicating volumes. At night, the little settlement lights up, and one wonders if paradise is right here...

    ETHICS

    Okahirongo Elephant Lodge has created a joint venture with the Purros Conservancy to develop an ecological approach to tourism in order to preserve a unique species of desert-adapted lions. These amazing lions live around the Hoaruseb River, and sometimes migrate all the way to the ocean.
