An as yet untouched sanctuary of wildlife, Kalama offers exceptional opportunities to observe animal species typical of northern Kenya, such as elephants, oryx, giraffes, gerenuks, Grevy's zebras, Somali ostriches, kudus, etc. Your days will be punctuated by exhilarating activities such as climbing, day and night 4x4 safaris, guided walks, meals in the heart of the bush, stargazing, and even learning the survival techniques of the Samburu warriors. Saruni Samburu is located on the southern edge of Kalama, an area adjacent to Samburu that has very recently been opened to sustainable tourism. The construction of new waterholes is particularly beneficial for the flourishing of certain rare species such as the leopard, the spotted hyena, and the lesser and greater kudu.

Saruni Samburu was created with an eco-friendly ethos, built from local materials, integrating solar power, harvesting and recycling rainwater, sending non-organic waste back to the capital, and employing the local population, all with the aim of minimising its impact on the environment as much as possible.
