    Designed in a unique style inspired by the shipwrecks that line the Skeleton Coast, Shipwreck Lodge is an exceptional place set between ocean and desert. Here, wind-swept plains give way to imposing dunes licked by the freezing waters of the Atlantic. It is a remote region where nature is raw, wild and magnificent. But Shipwreck Lodge is not just about the feeling of being at the end of the earth. If you keep your eyes peeled, you will observe the flora and fauna adapted to this harsh environment, including elephants, Namib desert beetles, Cape fur seals and desert lions. The lodge blends perfectly into its surroundings with just 10 solar-powered wooden cabins, whose large windows allow you to contemplate the desert. Inside, the furniture boasts a raw yet comfortable design, warmed up by dark-toned fabrics and a wood-burning stove.     THE EXTRAORDINARY

    The unique design of Shipwreck Lodge recalls the shipwrecks that can be found stranded on the sand of the Skeleton Coast, beside the Atlantic. In this corner of Africa, you literally feel cut off from the world before the dramatic, rugged and wild landscapes of the Namibian national park. Described by the San Bushmen as «the land God made in anger», this region is home to beaches strewn with whale bones and thousands of shipwrecks, and an uninhabited desert stretching out to infinity.

    ETHICS

    Shipwreck Lodge comprises only 10 solar-powered accommodations and is built from natural, salt-resistant and easily dismantled materials. Located in Namibia's least visited national park, Shipwreck Lodge is committed to protecting the unique biodiversity of the Skeleton Coast through conservation programmes. The lodge is also the result of cooperation between Natural Selection, two Namibian companies and the local communities bordering the park.
