The Crown Building, formerly the Museum of Modern Art, has undergone a monumental transformation restoring it to its original splendour whilst infusing it with the Aman spirit. Designed by the Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy, Aman New York celebrates Aman's philosophy with the creation of an exceptional sanctuary that pays homage to the historic building. Since 1921, the Crown Building has presided over central Manhattan at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, overlooking Central Park. Suspended 26 storeys above the pavement, the building's windows and terraces look out over the vast expanses of the park and survey the world's most recognisable skyline. The 2,300 m² Aman Spa occupies three floors, featuring a spectacular 20m indoor pool surrounded by daybeds and fireplaces. From bar jazz basement to the terrace overlooking garden Central Park, Aman New York is packed with social spaces for eating, drinking and relaxing. The best of European cuisine can be found at Arva, the Italian restaurant, and fans of Asian gastronomy will find their haven at Name, the Japanese restaurant.
